Biogeochemical Modeling Laboratory

About the Lab

Our Biogeochemical Modeling Laboratory at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution aims to understand the impact and feedback of marine microbial and biogeochemical dynamics on the Earth's climate system. We develop and utilize mechanistic biogeochemical models of differing complexity in conjunction with the analysis of observations and data-driven modeling. Current research topics in our lab include the quantification of microbial control on the ocean's biological carbon pump, biogeochemical feedback on air-sea CO2 fluxes, biophysical interactions in polar oceans, and modeling the risk and efficacy of ocean Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) methods.
